On Thursday, Oct. 26, Villanova University will officially launch the Anne Welsh McNulty Institute for Women’s Leadership. Established with a gift from Villanova alumna Anne Welsh McNulty ’75, the Anne Welsh McNulty Institute will foster women’s advancement through education, advocacy, the collaborative creation of new knowledge and community-building. Villanova University Assistant Professor of Physics Amber Stuver, PhD, is part of the Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory (LIGO) team that has made the first detection of gravitational waves from the collision of two neutron stars. The discovery was also made by the Europe-based Virgo detector and 70 other ground and space-based observatories. The results are published in the Physical Review Letters journal. read more
