The Class of '98
The rowers who graduate after 1998 will have hard shoes to fill. The Class of '98
will graduate one of the largest groups in the squad's history, as well as one of the most
successful. Each graduate will leave the campus with at least one Dad Vail medal, and many
will have more. This is the first class to completely be seen through their varsity rowing
by Coach John Suter. This class bridges two generations. The Class of '98 contributed to
the Overall Point Trophy at the Dad Vails for two consecutive years. They also are part of
the old Bachelor's regime. They remember when the women's team was a club.
They believe that they helped elevate Villanova Crew to where it is today.

a knee mishap that occurred 10 minutes before the crew's first race versus UVa.. His plans
for the future are uncertain this time (i.e. he still needs a job!). Please view Mike's resume
Phillip Gabriel Marcella sat 7 seat in this
year's Varsity Light 8 where he earned a silver. He also won a bronze in last year's Light
8. After graduation, Phil will be working for Andersen Consulting out of the
Philadelphia office.
Brian McDonald stroked this year's
silver-medaling Light 8. He won a bronze in the '97 Light 8 as well. Brian will be working
in Plainfield, NJ as an internal support engineer for Miller Energy. It's a shame
he couldn't find a job hanging spoons off of various body parts.
Rob Polizzo was a member of the '98 and '97 Varsity Light 8. Rob will be working
for Ernst & Young Llp. in the New York office after graduation.
Kip Wetzel will end his 2-year reign as captain
